is the place
and the world’s
Stephanie Joy is my name. For as long as I can remember I have been an artist, a peacemaker, and a gentle soul. My greatest dream as a little girl was to live in Ireland. Life happened and it had highs and some definite lows, but those traits and dreams remained the same. After high school I put my life in Jesus’ hands and chose to pursue Him at all cost. As my relationship with God deepened, so did my desire to share His love in the nations. For a few years, I received many confirmations all pointing me to Northern Ireland. In 2008 I took one giant leap across continents and haven’t looked back since.
In the spring of 2009 I completed a 7-month Discipleship Training School (DTS) through Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It also took me to Rwanda and Burundi. Later that year I returned to Belfast to serve as a full time staff member with YWAM. I joined a community passionate about representing Jesus and being His hands and feet wherever we are; illuminating the darkness with love and reconciling hearts to Him and each other. Through discipleship programs, community gatherings, acts of service, overseas outreach and most of all, authentic relationship, we create space for the Spirit of God to flow.
My original 2 year commitment came and went and it has now been over 5 years. I currently reside in a beautiful seaside village called Rostrevor where I help run a training and residential centre called An Cuan, (which means ‘harbour’ in Irish). From here I lead outreaches all over the island and overseas, help run our communications and DTS programs and use my creative abilities to bless people. In many ways, I feel like I’m just getting started. I am forever learning and discovering more of who God is and how to represent him through my life.
It’s worth noting I’m not all YWAM, all the time! I’m a graphic designer by trade. I’ve always loved art the most and enjoy discovering how to use it for Kingdom purposes — be that for justice, healing, worship, etc. etc. I love quality time with people, especially when there’s much laughter. Singing. Playing the guitar. Going on adventures. I have a family in Colorado whom I deeply love and I’m an auntie to 8 adorable boys and girls! (I don’t get to see them enough).
My utmost priority and reason for being is to pursue the Lord and love Him with my life. I believe it only gets better…
